Andrew B. Courtney Senior Associate

Andrew B. Courtney’s practice focuses primarily in the areas of criminal defense, commercial litigation, and contractual matters. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Mr. Courtney obtained his Bachelors of Science in Criminal justice and Writing at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania. He has since made South Florida his home after attending the Shepard Broad Law School at Nova Southeastern University. Mr. Courtney was a member of the Nova Trial Association where he excelled in Mock Trial Competition, eventually becoming Vice President of the organization. He also participated in Nova’s Family Law Clinic where he assisted indigent clients with various issues ranging from marital dissolution to child custody hearings.

 

Prior to joining Cohen & McMullen, P.A., Mr. Courtney acquired extensive civil litigation experience while working at boutique law firms specializing in personal injury, contractual disputes, and estate Planning. He is known for his dedication and skill in developing strategies specifically tailored to meet the individual needs of each client.

 

Mr. Courtney developed invaluable litigation skills during his tenure as an Assistant State Attorney in the 17th Judicial Circuit in and for Broward County. He started in misdemeanor court and worked his way up to lead prosecutor in the felony trial unit, having tried cases ranging from DUI to Murder.  He is currently licensed to practice law in the State of Florida as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
